Sollution: Run it from Dos with the patched Himem and emm386 from the freedos project. But there is no possibility (short of physically remove some Ram) to limit that in Dos. With Dosbox you can limit the amount of Ram. Searching the web I've found out that Aladdin has a problem with more than 32 MB Ram, this is the reason for the 'XMS Allocation Error'. Dosbox allowed me to make it work under Windows with sound, but the machine is too slow for emulation. I then tried to run it from Dos, which gave me the dreaded 'XMS Allocation Error'. The Game can be run directly from Windows but sound doesn't work like this. My setup: Pentium 200Mhz, 96MB Ram, Soundblaster AWE64, Windows 98se + latest Patches. I just wanted to drop in and share my experience installing aladdin.
